Swordcery is a rogue-like, melee-based action-RPG whose treacherous, ever-evolving path will challenge players with reactionary combat, vicious enemies, and formidable boss fights. A rain of blades has fallen to Earth in a catastrophic event known as the “World Rending.” Play as Colt, an unwitting hero who must venture forth to collect these swords and learn to wield the powers within each unique blade. What allies await your arrival? What foes snarl at your progress? What extraordinary and mysterious swords wait to be wielded? Discover the answers and unleash the power of Swordcery to vanquish the Celestial evil that seeks to corrupt our world!
THE WORLD RENDING
A giant blade has plunged into the Earth bringing a hail of smaller blades along with it. The calamitous sword, stabbed into the mountains, seems to be draining the power of the Earth itself and with each passing day the rain of swords grows heavier and heavier. This event has come to be known as the “World Rending”. As war wages in the heavens, the swords of fallen celestial knights plummet to Earth, seeking new owners. However in human hands, the weaponry responds vile, draining the lifeforce of those who wield it, causing any who dare grasp at the hilts to perish.
ARMED TO THE SHEATH
Within each blade lies its own unique abilities.
Discover the power of each weapon (and yourself) as you journey into the heart of danger, picking up swords along the way.
Use Father Johannes’ hulking pizza slicer to sling giant cutters towards enemies or cast out the mighty Edge of the Universe and rip through the fabric of time, space, and evil!
Unleash these and other powerful Swordceries to vanquish evil and overcome challenging bosses.
Light attack combo has a scooping finisher to pick up enemies and send them flying
Heavy attack is an iaido attack (draw slash) that requires you to charge it, a fully charged heavy attack cannot be blocked
Has cancellable flourish animations that play after each attack—killing an enemy and letting a flourish complete will allow the heavy attack draw slash to be used without charging the attack
Cons:
No heavy combo
Last attack in light combo leaves you very vulnerable if you miss
Don’t be on the fence about this one. Just thrust yourself forward!
Characteristics:
Long range
Attacks are mostly vertical or thrust-like in nature, more useful for focusing on one enemy
Light and Heavy attack combos
Does not clink on shields
Rapier will include a timing mechanic
Well-timed attacks will inflict guardbreak points onto enemies—when enough guardbreak points are racked up on one enemy it will put them into guard broken state giving the player advantage
Cons:
Harder to use against multiple foes
Blocking while using this sword class drains more stamina
First attack of light combo is a leaping attack that is optimal for closing distance
Only larger shielded enemies can block this sword class
Heavy attack combo is replaced by a running joust that drains stamina in accordance to the distance you travel by holding down the heavy attack button. This can carry enemies along the chosen joust path
Cleaves through shielded enemies, unless they are really big
Has both Light attack combo and Heavy attack combo
Final hit of Heavy attack combo has armor
Final hit of Heavy attack combo can put enemies into “face-planted” state where they are slammed to the ground (if they survive that long)
Cons:
Slowest attacks of any sword class
Takes a larger amount of stamina to do each attack
Recovers stamina slower
More knockback may not always be ideal

Founded in 2019, Temple Door Games is a duo indie dev team based in Los Angeles, CA. While working on God of War at Sony Santa Monica Studio, Mike Henriet and Don Thurakichprempri bonded over a mutual love of animation, video games, and burritos. With Temple Door Games, they strive to create fun and challenging gameplay complete with quirky jokes, satisfyingly juicy melee hits, and a few tugs to your heartstrings.
Main Characters
Mike Henriet
Favorite games: Dark Souls 1 / The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Super Smash Bros. Melee / Shadow of the Colossus
Despite being near the ocean, Mike Henriet is one of the most threateningly pale men to have ever lived in the sunshine state. He arrived on the gaming scene as a heavy-hitter, landing a job animating on God of War after graduating from CSU, Long Beach. When not eating Tito’s Tacos, he’s thinking about Tito’s Tacos. When he’s not doing that, he can be found accruing salt while playing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate online. As a game dev, Mike is inspired by classic video games like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Super Mario 64, and the Dark Souls series. He frequently gains the “invigorated” status by listening to Dire Dire Docks on repeat. Feel free to test his knowledge as a self-proclaimed video game music savant. Seriously, give it a go!
Don Thurakichprempri
Favorite games: Street Fighter IV and V / Dark Souls 1 / Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 / Enter the Gungeon
Don Thurakichprempri grew up believing he was destined to be a Hollywood stuntman. After one failed backflip in high school, he decided to become an animator instead. His career began in television working on animated shows like Axe Cop for FOX ADHD. He then went on to become a Cinematic Animator on AAA games including Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and most recently, God of War. In his spare time, he competes in Street Fighter tournaments and unleashes puns on the general population. A trained animator and graphic designer, as a game dev he is “flying by the seat of his pants, but doing so stylishly.”
Composer
Adam Bow
Favorite games: Dark Souls 3 / Bloodborne / Super Metroid / The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
Hailing from the mythical land of New Zealand, Adam Bow passed up the chance to join the Fellowship of the Ring for a much nobler cause — pursuing the life of a bard. Inspired by the music of Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Adam puts his skills to use making magical, musical creations. He joins the Swordcery band of misfits as the game’s official composer, crafting tracks that grant a point of inspiration to all those who listen. If you’ve ever wondered why New Zealanders are called Kiwis, make no mistake! Though the internet might have you believe it’s because of some silly bird, it’s actually because Adam’s tunes (like the Kiwi fruit) are sweet as!
Favorite games: Enter the Gungeon / Paper Mario Color Splash / Fable 2 & 3 / Animal Crossing
Samantha Chron is the Brita filter that makes Don and Mike’s words safe for the general population to ingest. Without her editing skills, everyone who has visited this website would be suffering from an insane amount of sanity damage. A professional graphic designer, she uses her impeccable taste to assist the boys with all things design (without her, you’d be looking at a screencap of a notepad document uploaded to GeoCities). A lover of all media, Samantha excels at being a human Shazam and IMDB. She is mediocre at most video games but godlike while flying a plane in Diddy Kong Racing. She can often be found hungering for food from Urban Plates but has never once driven to actually get it.
John Collins
Favorite games: Rollercoaster Tycoon / Faster Than Light / The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time / World of Warcraft
John Francis Collins III houses one of the most formidable brains known to man. A powerhouse of programming, he is well-versed in the in’s and out’s of Unity and is fluent in several programming languages. When the code cracks the bois, John cracks the code! Lurking in the night, his mind P O W E R S through problems that Don and Mike need help solving. John makes sure the bois don’t get too lost in their own jungle as an avid fighter of gitFire. When not assisting with Swordcery, his mind is occupied by a vast love for all things sci-fi and Minecraft. Although he is not close in physical proximity, he is always with the team, watching over them like some sort of code Mufasa.
